I have two questions. First, I fed the catfish this evening but first was looking around under my dock since I have seen a bunch of fry in the last couple of weeks. I'm assuming bluegill fry. Today I saw 3 small fish 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches. I have given up on any fatheads be left long ago. These were not fatheads as they were very quick to move. The brain appeared to be light green and the largest of the 3 had what appeared to be a stripe down it's side. There also seemed to be a little dark area on the tips of their tails. They would get over the top of cross bracing on the dock and hover when not swimming. Could these be juvenile bass?
Second question is will my channel cats spawn in a one acre pond?

I'm not that experienced looking at small minnow's but with the strip down the sides my guess is Bass.

I have a ¾ acre pond and my channel catfish spawn . But you need to sink a trash can or several trash can's if you want lots of catfish in about 2 - 3 feet of water so the Channel Catfish can have their young in there and protect them until they can fend for their selves. Otherwise, as I have read the small fry just swim in a tight ball and the other fish eat them very easily. I never see my new catfish until they are about a foot long and start feeding with my really big ones.
