Hi,
I am in the planning stages of a 1/2 to 3/4 acre pond. I would love to see your pond pics to give me some ideas on how to layout the pond on my land, as well as ideas for a dock or gazebo to go along with it.
If you have a large pond please post your pics too.
Also please post the size of your pond with the pic.
Thanks.

Cdal1, Here are a couple of pics of my pond. It is 3/4 of an acre and it's about 8 feet deep with an average of about 4 to 5 feet deep. It's a great little pond. The dock I made with 30 gallon floating barrels. Hope this helps. The pond is more or less a triangle with round edges.

What might be cool, if it hasn't been done already, is have an archived thread of pictures of PB members' ponds.

RC51: You still happy with the dock? Would you change anything? I'm going to build one this winter and want to learn from other peoples mistakes!

Hey esshup,
I am happy with it except for one thing. My T part I would have made a bit longer for better stability. Mine is 10 feet long and about 40 inches wide. If I had to do it agian I would either make it 14 feet long ( so you can add extra barrels for stability) or say 60 inches wide instead of 40 for the same reason. Mine is fine but when you get out to the end of the T and your are 200 plus pounds it is a little tipsy but exceptable. As far as the kids go it's not a problem as they only weigh 100 some lbs. I am thinking of adding two 100bls anchors on each side with a rope. So when you go to one end the anchor will help stablize. Of course that will only work to a degree depending on your water height but it would help.

RC51,
Thanks for the pics, that's exactly what I'm looking for. That's a nice looking pond you have there. And that pond looks a lot bigger than what I imagined a 3/4 acre pond would look like.
Please keep the pics coming.

Thanks Cdal1
3/4 of an acre is decent. I would not want anything smaller than that. If I had a choice to make mine a bit bigger I would be VERY satisfied with about an acre and a half to 2 acres. That would IMO be perfect. My pond is around 228 feet by 265 feet give or take a few feet. So it's right at that 3/4 to an acre size. I have LMB, CNB, some RES and a few GSF (JHAPS Favorite). It's fun the only thing is with a smaller pond you have to be much more mindfull of your management practice. As I am finding out as I go. It can be easy to get to much of one thing or another in a pond of this size and your fish will get unbalanced quick.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Hey Dave,
It's been going good till it got cold. I have culled 14 more bass that were about 12 inches or so. That day I caught about 20 so I didn't want to over do it as I am not really sure how many bass I actually have. This fall I put 200 CNB in my pond and 100 RES as well. So this sping/summer I hope to start seeing some results. I bought a tagging system from Mr. Grimes as well. So I am going to tag and chart some bass also and keep an eye on them.
Thanks,

Ted, It looks like you pasted the link directly into the forum posting window, rather than pasting through the "Enter an Image" function. Step 1 -- Click on the "Enter an Image button in the posting window: Step 2 -- Paste the link into the window that opens up. By the way -- absolutely beautiful pond! Ken EDIT: I see Theo posted at the same time I did. The function I mention above adds the that Theo mentioned.

Let's try again, Thanks Catmando and Theo. We've had a ball with this little pond over the last 10 years. In the background is 38 acres of rolling watershed that drain into it sometimes too quickly. This pic was taken a few weeks ago when I raised the diffuser to 5 ft for winter aeration and switched to the windmill.

Those are some nice looking ponds.
Ted Lea, I really like the design of your pond. I think when it finally comes time to build my pond I will be doing something similar to yours.
Btw I just received the book "a perfect pond want one", and the magazine. I've got plenty of bathroom material now.
Thanks again for the pics.
