I had a question I have a pond that is about 7 acres. There are islands and coves and at the av depth is about 20-22ft. It's about 8yrs old. I was wondering if I should try to get some water moving to prevent stratification and get the pond equalled out. I was thinking about putting maybe two different diffusers with two heads on each on each side of the island that is in the middle. But the problem is that I want the lake as natural as possible. I dont want to hear or see a compressor. Any ideas or input? Thanks

Lots of options on the how , when and where.

I will address one question to start.
"I was wondering if I should try to get some water moving to prevent stratification and get the pond equaled out."

While that may be exactly what you want to do - it is not time critical for now. By this time of year and cooler temps the pond has destratified for winter/spring. When the surface water gets cooler it gets heavier , holds more O2 , and sinks breaking the thermocline and destratifies the pond. It is often called fall pond turnover.

Right thats good in that sense I'm just trying to get a head start on the process so that it will be ready by next summer. and it seems from one of the replies to another post that it would be best to start in the spring so that I dont stir up the N.A. and H.S. gas and all the sediment when the pond actually fully stratifies.

Air lines can be run long distances so comp. noise can be isolated away from the pond. The comp. can be enclosed (with proper ventilation) in a box lined with sound asorbing foam so as to further min. noise.

I have been pretty close to some comp's. and couldn't even hardly tell they were running. Ric is right you can set your comp quite a ways away and enclose it and no one would know the wiser. Think about where would you like it and what you can do to somewhat hide it I bet you could do it and most folks wouldn't even know it's there.

The only difference between a rut and a Grave is the depth. So get up get out of that rut and get moving!! Time to work!!
