I have noticed ants in my feeder, and I don't know if they are coming from the bagged food or from the ground. Should this be of concern and if so how do we get rid of them without harming the fish. I figure the fish might consider them and extra treat.

If they are coming from the ground there is this stuff you can smear on the legs of the feeder that will stop them from climbing up the feeder. We used it on a hummingbird feeder stand once. Of course I can't remember the name of it.

vaseline will work, or good 'ol grease just to make a barrier that they can't walk across.

I wouldn't think the ants would be a problem. More of a treat for the YOY.

I had ants getting into my feeders last year. My property is covered up with them. I own a landscaping company and I recomend to my customers to use Acephate also called Orthene. Just sprinkle some around the feeder and that should solve your ant proplems. We use it at the nusury to keep ants out of the plants and it does a excellent job.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Cecil only if large numbers are consumed usually happens after a flooding of near shoreline nest.
