Here's my observation on a very limited sampling. I don't feed, so know very little about what fish like. I have a 1/2 acre pond where I live that my wife feeds some 32% feed to the catfish. So, I thought I'd throw some out at the new pond North of Muenster and see if any of the 3000 CNBG were hungry. They weren't feed trained, but... Nothing happened! That was 2 weeks ago. It kind of worried me, so I've read a lot here about Purina's Aquamax and ordered one bag(the 500) from the feed store($33.50..good grief). I threw some out over the weekend and in about 10 minutes a fish hit a pellet, then another , then another..So, yesterday I went back up to weed eat around the black walnut orchard and threw out some feed and the CNBG hit it like crazy! Maybe the high price can be justified on more selectively feeding fish...du

Where did you get the stuff that they declined? What was the brand?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Dave, they declined the 32% floating catfish food made by Muenster Milling. It clearly states that it's catfish food and catfish do like it, but bluegill not so much. That's not a knock on Muenster Milling. They are good folks , except when you park in their NO PARKING ZONE. Then the guy in the office comes totally un-corked

I did a lot of checking about the MM feed. It is extremely cheap and I've decided not to mess with it. However, I know a guy in West Texas who has a members only lake. He uses their higher protein feed and swears by it.

I've read about the high cost of Aquamax in other threads. I paid $20.80 for a 50 pound bag of 600 last week at a local grain elevator/feed store. I don't know how 600 compares to 500 in terms of price, but didn't think that was too bad.

I bought Aquamax 600 this morning for $24.00. As discussed here before I think a lot of the difference in cost between stores and states is the cost of delivery from the mill to the store.

Bing, I agree but also depends on the feed store. Some I think make about $8/bag while some doing volume are good making $3. I do not fault them on this at all but many of my clietns can "strong arm" the feed store if they know they will be buying several bags during feeding season and the prices will come on down.
