I have been reading this forum for over a month and subscribed to your wonderfull magazine I am a new pond owner and love it! I have a 3/4 ac pond in the back of the house. I love to sit and watch the fish jump. I have a watermill problem probly brought in by the geese family and their 2 babies. I put in 15# of tilapia and planing on geting 20 more #. Will they get rid of the watermill? I was told they eat it, or should I get Sonar? Its so expensive. Is White Cap the same thing and is it a generic for Sonar ??? pleez let me know, the watermill ruining my veiw. thx p.s how do you get the bass to say I subscribe ???

tcbs, I have used tilapia in AL, SC they have never rid of watermeal alone but have kept it at bay. I sell the whitecap at $145/8 ounce container and I think you would need three of these if your pond depth avg. is 4 feet. ALso you could try some diquat (Reward) with repeat applicaitions. This combo is more work but works well in combination with the tilapia to eradicate.

Thx Greg I appeciate the info. I bought this place in November. The pond in the back was the selling point. I have enjoyed sitting on the back porch looking at it. It's beautiful. It has an island in the middle of the pond. It's 10x better then a swimming pool. One more thing, my neighbors pond is less then 50 ft from mine. It's as clear as a bell. I have fertlized and done every thing I've read in this forum and the books I've ordered from Pond Boss. He hasnt done any of it, and his is clean. ??? Thx for your help.

Oh thats what I did wronge!!!!I have another question Greg. My pond is 3/4 of and acre at about 15foot deep. Thats at the deepest dept according to our neighbor. I know it drops about 6 ft after you get a couple ft from shore. How much white cap would I need and is it better than sonar? About how many times will I have to apply it? About how long will it last after I get the watermeal cleared out?

Tim if avg depth is say 8 feet you would have to use 6 8 ozs containers. I will call you this am, thanks. Flouridone is same wether whitecap or sonar. You can do a split applicaiton put some out wait two weeks put in remainder. Once water meal is gone it will continue working for qutie awhile depending on if diluted by rains or more water coming in the pond.
