I have been measuring my biggest trees looking for a champ. Two of our nutmeg hickories are bigger than the current champ and close to the national champ. Now I need to get the unhelpful state forester back out to officially measure it. Some trees don't even have entries so if you want to have your name in the record books for something check your trees. Here is a link to the Texas site, but every state does it. http://txforestservice.tamu.edu/main/article.aspx?id=1336

Jeff, are there restrictive covenants imposed on you for having the record?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Jeff, are there restrictive covenants imposed on you for having the record? Nope, it is just a list. A lot are actually lost to development because they are yard trees, city trees, or just in the way of progress. I could cut it down and turn it into flooring if I wanted and they would just take it off the list if they ever found out. I will get some pics when I get back out there.

Sounds nice. There are no state champs on our place, but I have started growing enough odd trees so maybe someday I can have something listed on our state big tree list. Here is pic of biggest tree on our place Populus deltoides ![](http://i43.tinypic.com/2m2yl2g.jpg)

Yessir, that's what I call a tree.
