rick-No./VA/UP If you decide to go with perch in the UP pond be sure to stock a predator to keep YP from becoming overabundant and stunting. You might consider stocking only SMB and minnows in the pond. New York extension service recommends SMB only ponds. From my experience that is a viable combination as long as you manage the size classes of bass so the population is close to your goals. Several minnow species may thrive better in the pond than just one variety. I recommend that you first stock the minnows and let them get well establised and reach a mature size for one year then the next year add the fingerling SMB. During the first year the rooted vetgetation growth would hopefully also become established to provide seasonal refugia for the minnows. Please Keep us advised on the progress of your pond.
