An Igloo type cooler works well for a compressor housing.
Turn it upside down, use lid for base, Drill round 6 inch holes for vent screens from home improvement store, as well as a couple of rectangular screens as Cody mentions above, and you are good to go.
Insulated against the outside heat with air flow through screens.
Has worked for me for at least 6 years with no compressor failure.
