when should i turn on my aeration system? im in texas

if bottom diffused system to prevent stratification I would not bother until this process starts to setup. So March at least maybe into April. If you start getting consistent 65 degree water you should consider crankin it up. If surface aeration then I see no need until warmer water maybe 75 or higher.

Yes Greg it is bottom diffused. I usually get a bloom about march or april will the aeration kill the bloom?

Aeration will not kill a bloom. It in theory will reduce nutrients that causes the bloom. Turning it on sooner will probably not make a differenece in bloom formation or not.
