Mike, I have no doubt that it is possible. I added 4 dozen 3" shiners to my 150 gallon aquarium in an attempt to spawn some for my pond next spring. The aquarium contains 13 copper-nose bluegill (2.5-5") and 10 rosey red fatheads (2.5-4"). After the first week, 1 shiner has survived---but it's doing real well. I think $12 wound up being a bit pricey for ONE shiner!
