You can spray your clothes & shoes with Permanone (Repel is a brand name) & they will die when they crawl aboard. Read the instructions & be sure to let it dry before wearing & not recommended on skin. It seems to still work even after one washing.
I don't believe deer carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Dog ticks do. Deer ticks can carry Lyme disease.
