Hey guys. I'm raising Warmouth in a pond I manage for my neighbor. They're very similar to Green Sunfish in their behavior I believe.
I think it's true that they compete with bass up to a point, and that point is when a bass eats them. Most of us agree that LMB prefer to prey on WM even more than bluegill because of their shape. In a LMB pond the WM will probably never get more than 6 or 7 inches long. They don't spawn as often or as heavy as BG either so BG will dominate them in numbers.
I put them as top predator in my neighbor's brim pond along with Shellcrackers (Redear Sunfish) and we hope to eventually get some 2 pounders.
