Here are the white crappie and 1 bluegill I caught yesterday over the sunken sweetgums. Unfortunately I lost my largest crappie due to a small hole in the netting in my "keeper basket" that hangs off the dock. Guess I'll have to catch him again. He was probably a foot long or better. These were around 10 inches or so with the bluegill between 6 and 7 inches.

Nice job, Eric! The fish took to your structure pretty quick.
I know fish baskets work, but I don't like them. I've had too many fish escape. I put anything I want to keep on a stringer now, or else it goes straight into the ice chest.

Dang, I'm jealous! The closest I got to fishing today was spooling line on a new pole and gazing longingly at the ice while listening to it crack.
I've had okay luck with a basket-style keep as long as I pay attention while I remove the fish. But I've had 2 CC straighten out the big loop hooks on a stringer and x-scape. Mostly, I use 5 gallon buckets.

Great pictures. If I saw those crappie with no prequalifying statements, I would guess black crappie.

I didn't go to the University of Florida.. I went to Louisiana Tech University..but I never liked LSU when I was young and was drawn to the Gators...maybe it was because of all times they beat LSU to my family's chagrin. ANYWAY HOW ABOUT MY BLACK CRAPPIE AND IS THAT A HYBRID BLUEGILL OR A PURE BLUEGILL!

Looks like a regular, non hybrid (female) BG to me.
'Bout time we layed off this National Championship football talk. For Bruce's sake.

Louisiana Tech football. Lots of famous players.
Terry Bradshaw, Pat Tilley, Roger Carr, Mike Barber, Fred Dean, Matt Stover, Willie Roaf, Doug Evans, Tim Rattay, and Troy Edwards.
Great school for pigskin.
Ohio State has had a funny habit of making it to the big game and losing lately. Basketball, football AND men's soccer. All in the national championship game but coming home with no hardware. Ouch.

Yah we are hoping Derek Dooley will get tech back on the right track. He's the son of well known Vince Dooley.

I've only missed five home football games for NU since 1969, and possibly the single most amazing performace came in the game about ten years ago against Louisiana Tech. Troy Edwards caught 21 catches for over 400 yards. Never seen anything like it. Too bad it was in a losing effort.

Theo, don't even go there. Coop didn't have a clue. Jim Tressel is a heck of a coach and an even better man. A class act!!
