Is there any benefit to adding Hybrids (HSBs? - I'm learning the acronyms) to a pond other than them being fun to catch? What's the impact on the LMB population?

HSB will take pelleted feed readily, and if fed have fairly minimal impact on LMB in a pond - certainly less than adding equivalent numbers and sizes of non-feed trained predators, like WE or other black bass.
Another benefit is with HSB you have a great deal of control of a predator species' numbers (non-spawning) and (to a lesser extent, i.e. theorized but not widely accepted) appetite (stop feeding HSB and have more hungry mouths; turn on the pellets and have fewer).

What are WE? If I was not happy with my LMB situation should I stay away from HSB and get the LMBs right before I consider branching out?

WE = Walleyes. See the ever-expanding Archive Thread on Acronyms. I suppose it would depend on what your LMB situation was and why you weren't happy with it. If you want bigger/heavier LMB, adding HSB probably won't help.

Hard to tell about them. I've heard a couple of reports of them dying in the hotter water of summer in Texas. Other ponds don't seem to have a problem.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
