Hope none of you ever have this problem!!!! After trying everything, I talked to a lake contractor who suggested wrapping the pipe in rubber material. I used a rubber 40 mil. liner. I would suggest a tire tube that is a little thinner ( it allows the pressure of the water to seal it off better). After donning my scuba gear, I went down and wrapped the pipe tying it off w/ zip ties. Well thanks for all your replies and I hope this info. helps someone out in the future. you don't know how long I searched for it!

Good call. Practical advice. Temporary, though. You have moved the problem to the back burner, but be aware you have added a bandaid. But, I'm all for ya...good idea for now.
