Had 500 BCP delivered for the 3ac pond on 4-12-13. With temps being warm there was a few DOA. I pulled a few to measure and they were all right around 3.5" (attached pic). The BCP came in late but just in time for the BG spawn to provide them with a meal deal.

Interesting side note on preparing for fishing for population control. A local 45 acre lake that sustained a nice size and crappie population for years averaged from 66 to 88 angler visits per acre per year with a 9" min size limit. The former manager of the 45 ac lake estimated a annual crappie harvest of near 100 crappie per surface acre. Another lake I done research on avg 92 angler visits per acre per year over 10 years(100 ac lake) and is one of the better crappie lakes in Alabama. Still waiting to here from the state if they can provide me any catch numbers on that lake for those 10 years.

Well, I still have a good year before I decide 100% how I want to attack harvesting. I do think this is going to provide the enviroment I want for youth & physically challenged persons to be able to catch high numbers of fish to help me prevent stunted fish.

Zep, I have bought a couple of boats over the years from Dothan myself. smile

Mr Hello, I kind of thought the same thing of the pic. I believe it must have been an optical illusion caused by the pic angle as the fish eye looked a little smaller on site.

Anyway he was gone about 1 minute after the pic as Max the Bass catching winnie dog had eat him.

It does but crappie do have large eyes compared to other species.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
