Hello All, I live along the coast in north eastern North Carolina. I have been in the process of having a pond dug pretty much this whole year. The hold up is the man digs, my neighbor and I move the dirt and the guy comes in again and digs some more. It's slow but the price is right! He farms my land for digging the pond.
Recently there has been a delay in digging due to rain and the excavator broke down. During all this time I have not been keeping the pond pumped out. In fact, a friend came by and put about 14 Blue Gill of various sizes in the pond. Two days later my daughter and I spotted some minnows swimming around the grass on the shoreline.
Now I think I know these cannot be BG. They kind of look like Largemouth bass. My question is: what is the most common "wild" fish for this area?
Oh, and by the way, I have only seen one of the BG floating so I'm really surprised about this!!
Thanks in advance, Steve

Most likely mosquitofish... They are seem to pop up everywhere in ponds near the coast.

If someone dropped by a pond that I was digging and dropped 14 bluegills in it we wouldn't be friends anymore.
Reality is constantly ruining my life.
