Thanks Brian, I'll look at it. Since I stocked pure floridas about a year and a half ago, nobody has caught one and I'm thinking a trap might show me that they are still there. Did you bait that with tortillas?

I have used tortillias, buns, and some other breads. I also have been working on adding a captive holder for fish food which I can hang in the trap. Of course when it is done, I'll post.

I'm going to make that my next project. We just finished the house out at the farm so once we get it all setup, I'll be asking some questions about the trap if you don't mind. Again, excellent job!

Cisco, send me a PM anytime, I'll be glad to answer any questions! Building them was fun and it gave me a chance to work with my wife on a project for several hours. I was glad she has some buy-in on them.

I used tortillas because they stayed together longer. I figured I should see how they do. I caught over 30 fish the first time I used them so, I use them from time to time.
Thanks for the kind words.

Brian, I use a paint strainer bag and toss in a couple of handfuls of fish food. Then, I throw a another handful in the area after I sink the trap. That draws them in a hurry.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Dave, that is a great idea, thanks. I'll try it and let you guys know as soon as I get back.
James, our pond is only a year old and it is usually too clear (sechi reading of 4-5 feet), but this was taken just after a 3-4 inch rain. I have been testing our water and the PH is around 7.2 and the ALK was 34 the last time I checked and it has never been below 20 and it has been as high as 45. I added 4 tons of ag-lime to the banks of the pond so any time we get a big rain, a little more gets disolved and added to the pond to neutralize any acids that might be added from the exposed dirt. After the pond fills all the way and matures I will then assess the water quality and see if I need to add any other stabilizers.
I am going to add an aeration system that much I know. I would like to have O2 a lot further down ( right now the O2 reading drops below 3PPM at around 7 feet).
