I just had my pond renovated and had a rock wall built around the entire pond. Wall is 30inches tall. It appears that I may have water coming through or under the wall. Not a big problem except in one area where it is flooding around a tree that I don't want killed. Any idea how to stop the water penetration?

Welcome to the forum PatsPond.

Is there any way you can post some pictures of your wall so we have a better idea of your situation?

Hey, Patspond, welcome to the PB Forum! Glad you joined in! Your pond wall sounds really cool - pictures would definitely help us get a better understanding of your situation as Rainman and Omaha have already suggested. Plus, we just love looking at pics of cool stuff, and your wall sounds like cool stuff!

If you can, take some pics of the specific areas of concern in addition to overall, big picture type pics. I suspect a better understanding will help us give you better guidance.

I posted this general comment under a wrong thread....hopefully it might help find a place to start.

A rock wall must be very well sealed to stop water seepage. ANY crack or crevice could leak. If your pond is what we call a garden pond, it will normally have a rubber or plastic liner put in to actually hold the water, then the rocks are carefully placed around the edges to look nicer.

If your rock is just stacked or built upon on a dirt/clay bottom, the water will simply go under it and rise to the same level on both sides of the wall unless again, the rock is completely sealed and the bottom of the pond was compacted with clay AND the wall was compacted deeply and on both sides of the bottom.

If your wall was built to retain your water similar to a dam, it is difficult at best to get them water tight. Freezing and thawing will normally crack the walls often also.
