Look at this beautiful mount for a (1.5 lb./9 inch) bream that I caught in a overflow pond near the Chipola River! Wow...what a fight I had with a cane pole on this one!
Enjoy!
I've seen Peacock Bass; that looks like a "Peacock Sunfish." Interesting.
Yea....It is a redbreast sunfish. I am very close to the world record if not the world record (1.12 lbs.). But I never weighed mine or registered it. But I will if I catch another one like this!
Heres info & a picture of the "record"-

I noticed on that web link that the world record is smaller than the state record. Either a typo, or I'm going blind from staring at the screen. Nice catch.
Uhh Luke, the Texas STATE record for the redbrested sunfish is 1.63 pounds...I rather doubt the world record is less than that, but we do things bigger in Texas.
I thought I was the only ine who noticed that! I'll try to call them and get it corrected...that makes no sense.
Look this picture is the record...does the fish look 2 lbs. to you?
No way that looks 2 pounds to me..I've caught larger BG in my ponds than that!
Goodness, look at the w.r. redear!!
Now that's a redear! Even by Texas standards!
that is not the world record redear. world record was over 5 lbs. out of santee cooper. nevertheless, better by far than any I've caught.
