I have a lot of that gray "plastic" conduit in a couple different diameters. Anybody ever used it for habitat for scuds, crawfish, etc? Does it sink? Any downside? Any good ideas on how to use it?
Easy to tell if it sinks.
Don't know about if the composition is aquatic critter safe, but would think it might be.
Brand, specifics... Look it up.

......
Good point. It is PVC so specific gravity is around 1.2 or higher so it will sink.

What's in it tho?
I would at least want to find that out.
Southern Pipe, Inc. SCH 40
Looked it up. Sunlight resistant and all that jazz, but they don't mention much else except listing certs.
Guy's at work use miles of that stuff every year and throw away a lot of small pieces. I'll look into it further and see if I can find out more info.
I would think it would be environmentally friendly, but don't know.
Guess I'll find out. Cut up some half inch today and put the pieces in the soon to be scud tank. It will be interesting to see what they think of the 1/2 I.D. pipe....if it doesn't kill them!
