Beautiful yard. Got to love those Nissans. They will run forever
What's the status on the big fish kill Lynda?
Thank you guys!
I don't think I can do the photos on my own, really I was so overwhelmed last night, but wanted to let you guys see Sampson and Delilah, and my lake/gardens. I have a brand new plastic deck with glass railings, just getting finished now, and it took 2 semi truck loads of block to replace all the failing retaining walls underneath the deck, and alongside the house. A trillion trips down all by wheelbarrow. Another battle won, from my kitchen and family room when you look out the view is unobstructed, and all you see is water, no land.
I understand the fish kill is pretty much set, they are waiting for our water level to go down as the overflow has to be shut off for a week. Why they don't put the pump in and pump water out first is something I just don't understand, what will we do, wait for the fish to spawn? Big Brando from PBoss might come and get some fish, how neat is that?
The best news is the Drain Commissioner and the Engineer we met at the MLSA want to come down and review our situation, hopefully on the 19th, with salinity at 550 ppb and the lake with no drains at 48 ppb, we have something to hang our hat on now, along with the other water testing our BOS are doing. As soon as they come, I have my State Rep coming for the tour - to try and get stimulus money to (1) move the drain outside the sub, and (2) try and get storm drain cleaning systems on some of the drains.
Looks like I better find a place with shuffleboard around here.
I go this weekend to the fist session of the Lake Leader Institute at Higgins Lake, back up north, right by Skips!
Nice little setup... Now the cats in the strollers, that's priceless!
You can really tell how overdeveloped our lake is, esp. when you compare it to the others on the other lakes, large sloping lots, lots of green space, we are on top of the water here.
Wow, absolutely stunning 2Cat.
Of course now you've made Tan extremely jealous, he's gonna want a stroller. What do you think Dwight, a new project perhaps?
You have a beautiful setting, thanks for sharing. I cant understand why the lake is not pumped down either. It will cost so much less to with less water. As the lake matures you can always put an aerator and/or fountain in your corner and be the envy of the neighborhood, with the best esthetics and fishing. The fish will fight for the higher O2 and better water quality.
good luck
Ahhh, a classic couple.
Our current barn cats are Ray and Debra.
Ray and Debra??? As in Everybody Loves Raymond???
Sampson & Delilah were the replacement cats for Romeo, my 18 year old long haired orange tabby that died from cancer that came on his paw, they are 5 now. How would I know that Sampson would be a chow hound, he never saw a food he didn't like, he weighs 22 lbs, the vet is not going to be happy.
As far as pumping the water down, it is like beating your head against a brick wall for anything that never happened in the past to happen now, everything is a fight. If I can get Troy to come back I will post the really disgusting photos of what the lake has been like.
GF Lakechair and I are going to give imput to a "City Mgr. seach forum" tonight asking they get someone that has experience in watershed issues, clean water act Phase II sec. 319, will clean the storm drains, and bring our city with 10 lakes into the 21st century.
2catmom - You have an extremely beautiful place there!
Your cats seem to be pampered some
You can really tell how overdeveloped our lake is,... esp.
You ain't seen nothing. Some of our lakes down have five rows of houses all the way around. Two that I know of have been incorporated as towns.
