It is very good to be out fishing on the full moon in February no matter where you are. This year there is a full moon transit at about midnight around the country on 02-18-11. Note: If you live in werewolf territories bring your silver bullets!

Hey Stick...water temps around here have climbed to 49-50!! was planting brushpiles yesterday and took a minute to crawl a jig-n-pig through some I planted in Jan and caught 2 LMB over 5lbs...definately have a trip planned for Fri. After 30+ yrs of fishing, studying, record keeping and careful observation I have determined that the absolute best time to go fishing is whenever you can!!!!!!!BTW down here we don't have werewolves but during the full moon we must be extra vigilant for crackheads, moonshiners, poachers, revenuers, recovery agents and of course Sasquatch....I think I'd prefer werewolves.

I am in a holding pattern here. To much snow on the lakes and ponds to travel. Hopefully I can get out somewhere by Friday. We are having a warm spell.

The february full moon is good, but its this new moon of March and few weeks before the full moon that usually kicks in the spawn, that has the bass in my pond out of the deeper water and into the flats. The mornings of March 5&6, I fished a transition point where depths jump from 12 ft to 5ft and then tapers up to the bank for about 40 yards. Overcast skies with a little breeze. I could see the bass moving, pushing the baitfish into pockets or into very shallow water and gulping em up. I threw 5" watermelon red stick to about 2' of the shore and as soon as hit the water, it was a race to see which hungry prespawn females got it first. The water would swirl with what looked torpedos racing for it from about 10' out. I caught 7 bass the first morning and 6 the next. Each morning the bite started around 8:15 am and tapered off around 9:15. Each fish ranged from 3 lbs up to 7 lbs. If you live in the southeast, south carolina to be particular, this is the time of year to catch those BIG hungry females that may elude us in other parts of the year.

Our winter is still going on. I'll still be on the ice on the March Full Moon, but I hear ya.
