Hi all, I just came across a floculation product that is completely new to me and I wanted to know if anyone has used it. The product is called "Sediment Control Tablets" and come from a company called Earth Chem out of Nebraska. They appear to be designed for stormwater but the salesperson told me they could be used in a pond. The active ingredient is some sort of polymer. I like the idea because they seem easy to apply by just tossing the tablets in the pond but what I want to know is whether or not they work. Any thoughts or experiences?

I think people are afraid to ask what "floculation" is. I know I am.

Not enough info on line to make a determination of the economics of using it.

Not afraid, just too polite! :P

I think if you research it you would not put it in someones pond or potable water supply. Key word is POLYMER,plus aeration and the power of the sun. What new chemical would we have to deal with now.

Ill stick with understanding flocuation

Good luck

The biproducts were one of my main concerns as well. It sounds like there is not a lot of info/ case studies on the product yet.

I knew it was coming;
They're sorry, ladies.

Floculation in beer brewing is used to describe the characteristic of the yeast to settle to the bottom of the fermenter when spent, I would say it would be a reference to making suspended clay/soil particles settle in a pond, but I just make the guesses, smart people pump them up or shoot them down.

Flocculation is just the process of getting suspended particles to clump together so that they become heavy enough to settle out where they can then be filtered out of the pond.

Same as beer yeast then, once it settles out you siphon the beer off to bottle it.

I've been edited! I suppose an apology is in order. Sorry ladies. Yes cokeisit, this is exactly what I was talking about.
