I just picked up my first 3 bags of aquamax largemouth this morning and they are in plain brown bags. The feed store says thats they way they came. They do have the correct product code and mfg date. The feed seems dry and hard, but the bags says it was made last month. Just wondering if anyone else is getting them this way.
I think the stuff I got was also in a brown bag. I got it from Dr. Griffin with Purina Mills.

If it is dry and odorless, I might be concerned.

Yup, mine is in a BB also.
Perhaps it is still so new Purina hasn't figured out their marketing approach wrt packaging.
Oh come on haven't you guys ever heard of brown bagging it?

Yep, it's a plain brown bag.. I agree it is 'dryer' than aquamax 600. But much bigger bites that the bass love after a while.

Aaron, if you keep growing BG the way you are they are gonna be eating your largemouth pellets soon!

Ha! They TRY to eat the big pellets. It's amazing how 'optimum forage theory' plays out.. the big bluegills attack the big pellets, not realizing they can't eat them. Yes, I have my dreams of a big 3.5lb gill eating the AM Largemouth. \:\)
Only a dream for about 2 more years. Soon Purina will come out with AaronM and Archer bluegill ration.

Aaron, what's the state record for BG in AZ? Do they allow private ponds in their record books?

Burger, I can't talk about that.

CJBS, 3 lb. 15.68 oz. 15.75 in. (damn!), and no, private ponds aren't allowed. Hard to get to that number!

Well, if you grow a BG over 15" and 3.5 lbs in your little pond I'm buying a plain ticket to see it in person! Cause that is one big fish...

Aaron,

Are you sure they are not getting some of those big pellets? When I fed bass with the largemouth pellets I noticed they crumble easy and I saw even fathead minnows attacking them.

Is your state record bluegill a hybrid or pure bluegill? Our state does not differentiate between the two.

Cecil, I was doing some research and came across your answer... Arizona does differentiate between bluegill and hybrids.

The state record bluegill is as posted above 3 lb. 15.68 oz. 15.75 in.

The state record hybrid was 2 lb. 2.22 oz. 12.5 in.

Other interesting sunfish records from AZ:
green sunfish, 1 lb. 9 oz. 11.0 in.
redear sunfish, 3 lb. 9.0 oz. 14.5 in.
warmouth, 12.0 oz. 10.0 in.

Yep, our state does differentiate. The BG and RES are both huge.

Cecil, they eventually get a few pellets when I feed the largemouth pellets. I don't do it consistently. After 7-10 minutes the pellet either starts to sink and they go crazy hitting it or they just beat it to death. So yeah they're eating them, but I'd like them to eat it whole. ;\)

Give me a few years. \:\)
Cecil, is that feed fresh? I don't think it should crumble.
